Welcome to Waikiki Malia – A Tale of Tradition and Transformation

A Tale of Tradition and Transformation

Formerly known as The Aina Luana Apartment Hotel, Waikiki Malia Hotel boasts a rich history deeply intertwined with the essence of Hawaii. The name “Malia” pays homage to Mary Au Tom, the wife of original owner-builder Francis J. Tom, reflecting our commitment to honoring our island’s heritage.

In 1989, the beloved Mr. Fukuyoshi Kawazoe, fondly known as “Lucky,” acquired the Waikiki Malia Hotel. Over the years, we have persevered, guided by a dedication to caring for our guests, our team, and our cherished surroundings.

In a historic occurrence in 2023, MacNaughton – an esteemed local, family-owned real estate developer and investor – partnered with the Kawazoe family to co-own the Waikiki Malia Hotel, marking a new era for Waikiki Malia. This collaboration supported a significant renovation project that breathed new life into our beautiful hotel. From the contemporary design elements to the celebration of the islands infused in local artwork, every detail of the new product reflects Oahu’s vibrant spirit.

At Waikiki Malia, our commitment to sustainability and cultural authenticity shines through in every aspect of our operation. Whether it is our thoughtfully redesigned guest rooms or our initiatives to protect the island’s resources, we strive to embody the true essence of Aloha.
Nestled in the heart of Waikiki, our hotel stands as a beacon of hospitality, warmth, and community. With Lucky Holdings and MacNaughton Hospitality, Waikiki Malia looks ahead to a future defined by local ownership, sophistication, and unwavering dedication to our guests.
